Phillip Davis was appointed today as president of Minneapolis Community and Technical College, resuming leadership of the college after resigning last month to accept another position.

The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees approved his appointment, effective Thursday, on the recommendation of Chancellor James H. McCormick.

"We are pleased to have President Davis return to lead this dynamic institution into the future," McCormick said.

Davis, 48, had resigned, effective June 30, to become president of Aims Community College in Greeley, Colo., but after a change in his personal circumstances, he asked to be considered for his previous position.

"I am pleased to return to Minneapolis Community and Technical College and the job that I love," Davis said. "This also allows my children and me to live together here in the Twin Cities and heal from the abrupt ending of my marriage."

Last month, the Board of Trustees had approved the appointment of Josephine Reed-Taylor as interim president. Reed-Taylor, senior vice president for academic and student affairs at the college, will resume that position.
