The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees appointed Loretta Lamb as vice chancellor for human resources.
Lamb, 47, has been chief human resources officer at Minnesota State University, Mankato since 2003. Previously, she was the university’s affirmative action officer.
“Loretta Lamb is a seasoned executive with more than 15 years of experience in all aspects of human resources administration,” said Chancellor James H. McCormick, who recommended Lamb’s appointment to the trustees. “She is recognized as a committed and successful leader in our system, and she has demonstrated an ability to adapt to changing environments.”
Trustee Ruth Grendahl, who is chair of the board’s human resources committee and who participated in the selection process, said, “It’s always gratifying to see that after a nationwide search, we find the top talent within our system. Ms. Lamb is a graduate of the Luoma Leadership Academy, a system program to develop leaders. Her appointment provides more evidence that our initiative to ensure the system has top-notch administrators in future years is paying off.”
Before joining Minnesota State University, Mankato’s staff, Lamb served as associate vice president and assistant vice president for personnel and administration at Washington State University in Pullman and counsel in the Washington State Attorney General’s Office. She holds a bachelor’s degree and a law degree, both from Gonzaga University.
“I’m honored to accept this appointment and look forward to serving the system,” Lamb said. “I am excited that I will be able to continue working with the human resources directors throughout the system and colleagues in the system office.”
Lamb will replace Bill Tschida, who is retiring. Her appointment becomes effective July 1.
