MSUAASF agreement ratified; tentative agreement with MSCF under ratification

ST. PAUL, Minn., June 18, 2014 – The Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities has approved a collective bargaining agreement with the Minnesota State University Association of Administrative & Service Faculty (MSUAASF) covering the two-year period ending June 30, 2015. The bargaining association represents nearly 800 non-teaching faculty serving in academic and student services departments such as admissions and advising at the seven state universities.

Steven Rosenstone, MnSCU chancellor, said, “I would like to express my gratitude to the negotiating teams for their hard work in reaching this agreement. The academic support services we provide to our students are critical for their success, and a completed agreement is essential for attracting and retaining the talented professionals that serve in these key roles.”

Negotiators have also reached a tentative agreement with the Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF) for the two-year period ending June 30, 2015. This proposed agreement will be the subject of a ratification vote by MSCF members. The MSCF includes over 5,000 faculty members.

Rosenstone continued, “We also look forward to working with representatives of the Inter Faculty Organization to reach a satisfactory agreement so that we may once again focus our attention on serving our students.”

Once ratified, all of these agreements require approval by the Minnesota Legislature before taking effect.

The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities include 24 two-year community, technical, and comprehensive colleges and seven state universities serving more than 430,000 students. It is the fifth-largest higher education system of its kind in the United States.
