Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirement

  • Bachelor or above degree in office or business administration or management, MIS, or business education and 4000 hours of occupational experience or
  • Associate degree or two-year diploma (90 quarter credits) in office management or administration, secretarial, office information processing, word processing or personnel assistant and 6000 hours of occupational experience or
  • One year diploma (45 quarter credits) in any word processing or secretarial field and 7000 hours of occupational experience or
  • Courses for credit or clock hours (1 quarter credit/20 hours, 1 semester credit/30 hours) in business, secretarial, information processing or management and occupational experience totaling 8000 hours.

Occupational Experience Requirement

  • 8000 hours of occupational experience in word processing supervisory responsibilities in an end user environment where systems and technical staff interact with nontechnical employees. Must include applications design involvement from conception to implementation consisting of identifying office tasks and needs, development of software and hardware solutions, selection of staff who use the system and training of end users.

Recency Requirement

  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

  • Faculty shall have a degree in education or three years of successful full-time (or equivalent) teaching experience prior to being hired, or shall be required to complete coursework in the above content areas (or their equivalent) prior to being granted unlimited status.
  • * These courses shall be waived for individuals who at the time of hire have: a degree in education, or have documented evidence of successful completion of equivalent coursework in the specified teaching and learning content areas, or have three years of successful, full-time (or equivalent) secondary, postsecondary, industry, or trade apprenticeship teaching experience in the field for which they are being hired.
