The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) Board of Trustees voted Wednesday (May 21) not to raise rates for residence and dining halls or fees for student union programs at the state universities for the 1997-1998 academic year.
The current fees were set for the 1995-1996 school year, and the MnSCU board has decided to hold the line on fees for the second year in a row.
The base student union facility fee is $114 for the regular academic year. Universities can charge a supplement to cover additional expenses, but the combined total cannot exceed $210 per academic year.
The room and board rates for 1997-1998 are the same as the last two years. A double occupancy room with full meals is $2,740, and a single room with the full meal option is $2,965. An all-you-can-eat meal plan adds approximately $75. A room-only plan reduces the cost by $1,000.
The student fee and residence hall rates apply to all seven of the Minnesota state universities. They include Bemidji State University, Mankato State University, Moorhead State University, St. Cloud State University, Winona State University and Southwest State University in Marshall.
