Interim president also appointed at Minnesota State University, Mankato
Anne F. Weyandt today was appointed president of Anoka-Hennepin Technical College in Anoka by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees. Weyandt, former chief of staff for Chancellor Morris J. Anderson, has served as interim president since May 2000.
"She has demonstrated excellent leadership of Anoka-Hennepin in the past year,'' said Anderson, who recommended her appointment as president. "With her strong organizational skills and her deep knowledge of the MnSCU system and its two-year institutions campuses, she is ideally suited to serve as the president."
Weyandt earned a law degree from the University of Minnesota and a bachelor's degree in political science from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul.
Weyandt began working in the Minnesota Community College System in 1983 as public information officer and held various other positions in that system, including director of human resources in 1994-95. After the 1995 merger that formed the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, Weyandt was system director for labor relations in 1995-96, interim vice chancellor for labor relations in 1996-98 and deputy to the chancellor and chief of staff from 1997 to 2000.
"We are fortunate to have a leader of Anne Weyandt's caliber and experience for Anoka-Hennepin Technical College," said Michael M. Vekich, chair of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees.
Weyandt's appointment is effective immediately.
Anoka-Hennepin's enrollment jumped nearly 10 percent this fall to a projected full-year-equivalent enrollment of about 1,450 students. The annual headcount enrollment is about 3,400 students.
Today the Board of Trustees, acting on a recommendation by Chancellor Morris J. Anderson, also approved the appointment of Karen A. Boubel as interim president of Minnesota State University, Mankato. She will replace Richard Rush, who has resigned and will be departing in June.
Boubel has been senior vice president and vice president for academic affairs at MSU, Mankato since 1996. From 1989 to 1996, she was dean of the College of Arts and Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Boubel holds a doctorate and master's degree in music theory from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a bachelor's degree in music education from UW-Superior.
Anderson appointed Metropolitan State University President Wilson Bradshaw to chair the committee to search for Rush's replacement. The committee will be formed over the next several weeks.
