Awards recognizing leadership and team effort for excellence in financial and facilities management of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities were presented Jan. 26 at the Chief Financial and Facilities Officers meeting at Anoka Technical College in Anoka.
The awards program, which began in 1997, publicly recognizes the significant contributions and outstanding efforts of the system's colleges, universities and employees. Facilities management awards were added in 1999.
"This program presents a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the terrific work done at colleges and universities across Minnesota," said Laura M. King, vice chancellor and chief financial officer for the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. "Their outstanding leadership has improved services to students and staff at a time of financial pressures." The award winners were selected from nominations made by presidents and college and university leadership. King said the program is designed to further the goals and objectives of the Board of Trustees.
Recipients of the 2004 awards are:
Excellence in Financial Management: Hennepin Technical College; Inver Hills Community College; Minnesota State College - Southeast Technical; Minnesota State University, Mankato; Minnesota West Community and Technical College; North Hennepin Community College; Riverland Community College; Rochester Community and Technical College; St. Cloud State University; St. Cloud Technical College; South Central College; and Winona State University.
Excellence in Facilities Management: Dakota County Technical College; Hennepin Technical College; Inver Hills Community College; Mesabi Range Community and Technical College; Minnesota State College - Southeast Technical; Minnesota State University, Mankato; Riverland Community College; St. Cloud State University; South Central College; and Southwest Minnesota State University.
Chancellor's Award: Kari Christiansen, Central Lakes College, vice president of administrative services.
Outstanding Service Award: Ron Blakesley, Hibbing Community College, chief financial officer; Tony Bartovich, Mesabi Range Community and Technical College, director of budget and finance; Al Behr, Minnesota State Community and Technical College, business manager for the Detroit Lakes and Moorhead campuses; Jean Hollaar, Minnesota State University Moorhead, university planning and budget officer; Karen Snorek, Riverland Community College, vice president of finance and administration; Jeff Wagner, St. Cloud State University, business services director; Tom Doody, St. Paul College, physical plant director; Cyndi Holm, Southwest Minnesota State University, director of facilities; and Dick Lande, Winona State University, facilities manager.
