Saint Paul – Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Christopher Frederick to the Minnesota State College and Universities (MnSCU) Board of Trustees.
Frederick, of Mankato, is a student at Minnesota State University (MSU), Mankato, where he is working towards a master of science degree in mathematics. He earned a bachelor of science degree from MSU, Mankato in electrical engineering in 2008. Frederick is the recent past state chair and interim executive director of the Minnesota State University Student Association, is a past president of the Minnesota State Student Association in Mankato, and was a student Senator at the Minnesota State University College of Science, Engineering and Technology. Frederick is appointed as a state university student member to a two-year term that expires June 30, 2011. He replaces Allyson Lueneburg on the board.
The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system comprises 32 colleges and universities, including 25 two-year colleges and seven state universities. The system is governed by a 15-member Board of Trustees appointed by the Governor. The board has policy responsibility for system planning, academic programs, fiscal management, personnel, admissions requirements, tuition and fees, and rules and regulations. The board appoints the system's chancellor and presidents of the state colleges and universities.
