About this Program

The Veterinary Technician AAS is a two-year academic program which includes a twelve-week internship at a veterinary clinic or other facility capable of providing related occupational experience. The program is designed to prepare graduates for positions as assistants to veterinarians and other professionals in animal related fields, in facilities such as veterinary clinics, animal hospitals, zoos, wildlife research centers, humane societies/animal shelters, animal nutrition/care industries, etc. This rigorous program allows students to build upon their existing passion for animals. A foundation of basic science courses plus the practical, hands-on technical courses, develops in students the solid skills necessary for employment in this field. Upon program completion, students are eligible to take state and national licensing exams.
