Collaborative Practice Dental Hygienist

Collaborative agreements between dentists and dental hygienists allow dental hygienists to provide care in the community independently. A dentist does not have to be at the same location or see a patient first. Collaborative practice dental hygienists provide oral health services in settings such as schools, early childhood education centers, long-term care settings, and mobile dental units that go out into the communities that they serve. No additional education or licensure is required for dental hygienists that work in collaborative practice settings.
