Hometown: Virginia, Minnesota
Graduated: 2019
Degree/Major: Associate of Science (Business)

Kody Lindgren is a 2017 graduate of Virginia High School. An excellent student who ran cross-country and played basketball and baseball throughout his high school career, Kody was set to go to Gustavus Adolphus College in the fall of 2017. After reviewing the annual costs of this private college, Kody started to think twice about his decision. Five days before the start of fall semester, Kody visited Mesabi Range College and changed his mind.

While attending Mesabi Range College, Kody consistently maintained a high GPA and also played varsity baseball for two years. He worked at the college front-desk, assisting the enrollment and financial aid departments. The best part about Kody’s change-of-heart is that he finished his associate of arts degree with absolutely NO DEBT.

Kody was the recipient of four scholarships, including the William Monat Memorial Scholarship, the Pat & Babs Dimberio Memorial Scholarship, the St. Louis County Mineral Royalties Scholarship, and the Iron Range Scholarship for a total amount of $4,500.

“I am so glad that I changed my mind and attended Mesabi Range College,” said Kody. “I completed the first two years of my four-year business degree, made lifelong friends, continued to play the sport that I love, and accumulated zero debt on the way to a four-year college.”

In the fall of 2019, Kody transferred to Concordia College in Moorhead to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business.
