Academic Camps

A Sense of Place: Creative Writing in the Woods

In this camp, participants will explore the wooded spaces of Lake Superior College as a backdrop for engaging in creative writing activities. Participants will need to be prepared to hike and sit in the woods and so should consider appropriate footwear and clothing.

Aviation Camp

This two-day camp offers students a unique opportunity for hands-on exploration of aviation careers. Participants will learn about careers as both a pilot and an aircraft mechanic. The camp includes engaging simulation activities and tours of local aviation facilities. Lunch is included..

Computer Camp

This is an introductory computer camp designed for teens ages 14-18 that focuses on computer programming, computer hardware, operating systems and cybersecurity. Students do not need to have any computer knowledge but do need an interest in technology, programming, and cybersecurity. Our program goals include students learning safe practices for online behaviors and increasing knowledge of computer programming and cybersecurity careers.

Machine Tool Camp

Unlock the world of manufacturing and precision machining at Lake Superior College's Machine Tool Summer Camp! This hands-on camp is designed for teens ages 14-18 interested in learning about the exciting field of machining and manufacturing. The camp offers participants the chance to explore cutting-edge tools and technology used in the machining industry.

SCRUBS Camp

Scrubs Camp is a four-day camp for students entering grades 9-12. This camp will offer hands-on, engaging healthcare-related experiences for students, and an overview of exciting careers available in the healthcare field. Students will enjoy hands-on simulation and is intended for students who are interested in healthcare careers. Tour area medical facilities, Essentia Health and Aspirus St. Luke’s Hospital.

SolidWorks Camp

SolidWorks Camp is a four-day, hands-on experience designed for students entering grades 9-12 who are interested in pursuing a career in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Technology. Participants will learn fundamental skills in sketching, utilizing revolved features, assembly tools, and dimensioning techniques. This camp provides an exciting introduction to the design industry, focusing on problem-solving.

Video Production Camp

Students will explore careers and interest in camera work and video production in a hands-on experience planning, shooting, and editing their own video projects. Students will also tour a local broadcast station to see the behind-the-scenes operations of local news. Lunch is included.
