Lake Superior College Summer Camps

Academic Camps

Computer Aided Design (CAD)/SolidWorks + Revit

Camp participants will be using software to design and draw product parts and building system elements. This is one of the initial processes in manufacturing and building design. Using SolidWorks, you will first draw a 3D model and transfer it into a 2D drawing with views and dimensions appropriate for shop production. Revit will be used to lay out a building and add various elements such as walls, windows, structure, and piping. Various CAD software programs, 3D printing, and related industry jobs will be demonstrated and explored.

Students will work in teams at Lake Superior College’s Downtown Center to assemble robots, using kits and onsite manufacturing tools and equipment. Guest speakers will talk about jobs in manufacturing and educational pathways.

Participants will learn about the welding industry through hands on activities and assembling prepared fabrication kits. Participants will learn about the tools and techniques used within the manufacturing industries. Participants will also tour local facilities and see different types of manufacturing in our local community.
