2023 4-H Explore STEM Day

Local 4-H participants are invited to campus to enjoy hands-on STEM activities and presentations from College of Science, Engineering and Technology faculty and staff. Topics include: Exploring Water through a Microscope; See through Radio, and more. Come tour the Industrial Automation Lab and other campus sites. Register with David Foley, 4-H Youth Development Coordinator LeSueur County, at djfoley@umn.edu or 507-357-8230 by June 16.

2023 ACES Explore STEM Day

Mankato Area Public Schools fifth grade ACES participants are invited to come to campus for an explore STEM day. Faculty and staff from the College of Science, Engineering and Technology and Psychology Department will have hands-on activities and presentations. The topics include: Explore Water through a Microscope; Extracting DNA; Building a Bridge with MnDOT; and Cognitive Science and Behavioral Neuroscience.

American Indian Summer Camp

The Summer Camp was first established in 2013 as a cooperative effort between American Indian Affairs and the Four Dakota communities of Minnesota. The reason for starting was to give American Indian high school students a chance to visit and experience a university campus, so they may begin envisioning themselves attending.

Asian American Summer Camp

The Asian American College Experience Summer Camp aims to promote higher education to high school students. The camp will have a focus on Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) identities, building solidarity, college preparedness, career exploration and more. Participants do not have to identify as AAPI to participate. Housing, meals, and transportation will be provided.

Camp Maverick: Rec N' Read

Camp Maverick: Rec N' Read is a recreation and literacy camp for elementary aged children who are struggling readers. We do 3 hours of literacy intervention throughout the day and 5 hours of recreation activities.

Cultivating Curiosity with STEM + Ag

MSU in partnership with the Southern MN Ag Center, the Engineering Center of Excellence, and the Mankato YMCA are offering a five-day STEM camp. This camp will contain hands-on activities and presentations. Participants will tour the New Sweden Dairy Farm, Hermanson Harvest, 7 Mile County Park, and Minneopa Park. Presentation topics include: animal diversity, design thinking, watershed/river flow, why are bridges cool. Participants must register for the camp through the YMCA by June 15.

Maverick Social Justice Summer Camp

The Maverick Social Justice Summer Camp aims to promote awareness of social justice issues and help cultivate secondary education (9th - 12th-grade*) student leaders, especially in multicultural communities. The camp exposes participants to various topics relevant to social justice, including racism, sexism, and classism. Camp participants will also be encouraged to pursue higher education to serve their communities better.

Summer Bridge Camp

The Summer Bridge Camp is for incoming first-year students to visit the college campus and participate in group activities. At the end of the camp, they will attend their college orientation to register for classes.

Summer Python Programming Camp for Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning & Security [AIMS] Research group from Computer Information Science Department at Minnesota State University, Mankato is offering a two-day programming camp where middle and high school students will use the Python programming language to learn about artificial intelligence and machine learning.
