FlexPace: Competency-based Business Certificate Program
Riverland Community College
Background
Mastery-based education is tailored to the needs of the underemployed adult workforce. Riverland Community College identified a need in their surrounding communities for a business certificate program that was online, flexible, and did not carry the restrictions of the traditional seat-time model. Enter FlexPace – a mastery-based program that allows learners to learn at their own pace. In FlexPace, learners who master concepts on the first attempt continue on. Those who don’t receive supplemental help to achieve mastery, and then they, too, move to the next concept.
