Understanding Writing and Research in the Disciplines

Southwest Minnesota State University

Background

The English faculty at Southwest Minnesota State University envisioned a website of free online resources that could replace the need for textbooks in their English 251: Writing in the Professions course. Through a collaborative effort between 18 faculty members, the group authored original materials that crosscut disciplines and programs across the campus. They then provided these materials to students via the web using a content management system.
