In February 2025, the NextGen Project Team announced the official start of the Workday Student Implementation. Last summer, Minnesota State went live with Workday for Human Capital Management (HCM) and Finance – the foundational first step in our journey toward a modern technology landscape that will support students, faculty, and staff.

Workday Student will transform the way students, faculty, and staff engage with academic planning, advising, and administrative processes. As a cloud-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, Workday Student will provide a unified student experience with personalized graduation plans, interactive advising resources, academic tracking tools, and more – all designed to empower students on their academic journey.

Workday Student is more than a technology shift – it’s a transformation in how we support students. This implementation reflects our commitment to putting students first by streamlining processes and improving accessibility to essential resources.

The transition to Workday Student is a significant undertaking and will be implemented in phases, beginning in fall 2028 and culminating in a full launch in fall 2029. Minnesota State faculty and staff across all campuses will play a critical role in this effort, ensuring a smooth transition and embracing the opportunities this new system will bring.
